After one night in the hotel at Hangzhou, it was back on the bus for some sight-seeing before the trip to Shanghai.
We visited the West Lake which is historically significant. It is a fresh-water lake which was declared a World Heritage site in 2011. The gardens, pagodas and temples have inspired all sorts of artists through Chinese history.

The misty weather affected the views as we motored around the lake in one of the many tourist boats.
Nevertheless it was a pleasant experience. The three posts, (two of which are in the photo below) feature on one of the currency notes for China.So this lake is important culturally.
This was the site for one of the cultural gatherings during the 2016 global summit of G20 nations.
Then it was on to a Tea
plantation and village set amongst the hills with very pleasant views.
Green
tea was the specialty and the presenter at our information session reassured us
that green tea could fix just about every complaint known to the human
condition. Arthritis, lung cancer, blood cancer, high cholesterol, high sugar,
high blood pressure, allergies, skin or liver spots, halitosis, and even
constipation to mention just a few. Hmmm!
The evening’s entertainment was to attend a circus, "ERA - Intersection of Time," perhaps akin to Cirque de Soleil, which may be unfair to both.
High energy acrobatics and athleticism.
Certainly, good entertainment, but the five, then seven or eight motorcycles racing inside the wire cage did set one’s nerves on edge. A bit hard to see in the photo below, but they are there!
